I heard of the ideas about a gallery run by local artists in 2011, when Chiang Rai artists joined forces to celebrate the city's 750 years anniversary. Next year the idea was up and going and was promoted by a huge open air exhibition and concert. It was an amazing evening, where the artworks totally changed character and expression after sunset, when the artifical light was turned on, inside and outside the artworks (pictures will follow soon).
